    thanks for the clarification Dave.  I have such a hard time following the flip flopping rearrangment of species.  My reference was a Dec 2016 Audubon book.

    Worms and the like have adapted very differently than we have.  They certainly can eat things that would sicken or kill you and I.

  3. Safe to come into contact with, yes.  Edibility unknown to me.  Skin irritation is very uncommon with mushrooms.  If you have a young one that puts everything in their mouths then just remove (btw tasting and spitting is a common practice and regarded as safe to help identify mushrooms).

    A spore print would be helpful as well as general location.
