Agaricus Newbie (1/5)

  1. I got enough of a greenish spore print that I tossed the whole lot this morning. The pics were made with my iPhone 6; if I'd had mu Nikon Coolpix, they' have been better! LOL. I have an almost 50-year history photographing collector cars for publication. Mushrooms are easy, given decent light... Thanks for chiming in.
  2. Have always had an interesting in mushroom gathering but never really pursued it until my younger son and his father-in-law discovered a very productive chanterelle patch behind their north Georgia cabin a few years ago. Some years, they're gathered more than 25 pounds in a single day. Recently I've been visiting a friend in Florida who has been picking 50-75 mushrooms a day lately, of various types, from their yard at their new house (not to consume; they consider them unsightly...). Does anyone know of a mushroom gathering/teaching group in the greater Atlanta area that's open to a newbie old guy?
  3. Ran across a huge patch of mushrooms this morning alongside the road across from the Norcross fire department. Picked most all of them, maybe as much as two gallons, and am hoping they can be identified. First image shows perhaps a quarter to a fifth of the patch. Spore print in is process and the spore color looks to be a light green or greenish/blue so far, with more mature specimens having a darker spore color. Largest mushrooms are 5 inches or more across the cap, though most are a bit smaller. Gill-side up specimens are perhaps four inches across. Stem length on mature examples is roughly twice as tall as the cap width. Picking them caused some accumulation of slightly sticky, almost powdery material to get on my hands; not a lot but easily felt if not easily seen. The patch was in a grassy margin between the road and a wooded patch of mostly hardwoods. If additional info or images would be helpful, please let me know. Thanks in advance for any help.
