  1. Interesting, can you tell me any key words I can search to learn more about the peppery taste? I tried googling, but couldn't find anything about it
  2. The second link is spot on, Dave. I went back to the trail later and some of the caps had faded to that pale color. This only happened in one or two patches of about a dozen or so. One more detail, when I thought I had IDed these as marasmius oreades, I took a tiny nibble and noticed a distinct peppery aftertaste. I spot it out because I had not heard any mushrooms having that flavor profile. I should not try to eat these, I suppose? Image
  3. Found on a wooded trail. These mushrooms were growing everywhere after a wet few days. Only growing along the side of the trail (not deeper into the woods) Seemed to like the mulch. No bruising color as far as I can tell. Gills are forking and have a yellowy hue. cap is brown. The stem is quite fibrous. I thought it was marasmius oreades but it was not growing in grass.
  4. Hi all, Glad to have found this forum. I'm new to mushroom foraging and figured I ought to find a community who shares the interest. I live near Seattle, I work in tech, and I'm facinated by mushrooms! 👋
