  1. Welcome & Happy New Year!!!๐ŸŽŠ
  2. Thank you I have been seeing lots of boletes last few weeks. They are new ground for us so we will keep trying to id them. Have been enjoying Chantrells, Oysters, & pear shaped puff balls right now. Hope all is well with you! Appreciate what you are doing helping us learn! Happy picking!๐Ÿค—
  3. Wet Southeastern on side of road in mixed forrest... Can anyone help with this ID bigest one we ever found.... Someone please!
  4. Dave thanks for replying. Now that you have said there is two species in these photos I see that now. They were not far apart so "assumed" they were the same. Not good on my part! Smh.. yes those are the same as the top five photos. I was told they all were Bay Bolete so good thing we did not eat them. We are still learning and never eat any we can not positively ID ..ask questions & research but some of the info is way much for my limited knowledge. Rather be safe than sorry or dead! We stick to eating the one we know are safe and ones, even when told they are ok, we still try to find out if it meets all characteristics of the mushroom it is said to be. Don't know who is knowledgeable just from internet posts. We use this site & Mushroom Observer for our go to help.
  5. I need an ID for these mushrooms found. Hubby found them under White Oak and short needle pine next to a ditch. It has been raining so much the mushrooms we have never seen before are popping up. These were on our property fence with woods on all sides but the entranc Southeastern Louisiana. Thanks for any help! Shywiles
  6. I thought we had no one around our neck of the woods. We have been looking for forays around the state found one but looks like no one is running it. We do good with hands on help from people with knowledge of mushrooms, good & bad. I will check at Tackfaw State Park to see if mushrooms are allowed to be harvested there! It is a beautiful swampy very nice park you pay to get in by car not how many ppl. Had cabins, tent sites, think even MH, & RVโ€™s. They have a very long and lovely boardwalk with sitting areas along the way to the river! I will post our finding asap on this thread. Would love to join a group that is closer to home.
  7. So excited to see posts from Southeastern Louisiana people! My hubby & I have been hunting for mushrooms for a couple years on & off. Was lucky to meet a fellow hunter in Tickfaw State Park about 3/4 years ago. He was forging for Chants and taught us to properly ID them. We have been hunting for them sence. Just across our property fence are wet land forests that we forge on with permission from owner. We have found lots of small mushrooms but not sure on their ID yet. We take pictures the spend lots of time looking on sites and books, lets not forget google to verify what we are seeing. Oysters are up and growing even close to our house. Turkeys are in abundance we are waiting to find Chickens and Lobsters. We are sure on these but finding them has been very slow. Hope this helps you on yโ€™all hunts. With all the rain lately looks great for picking! From inbetween Denham Springs & Hammond, LA. area.. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ„ Some we found right next to our front porch! Loved these sautรฉed butter, onion, garlic & cream sauce over pasta! Yummy ๐Ÿ˜‹
  8. Thank you Dave! They are thinner flesh than the one we found last week on a tree stump. So was not as positive as the first ones we found last week. Will check them in morning to see if they are still good. Such a small amount we hate to harvest this was I first time eating oysters and they were so good. Sautรฉ in butter with a little onions & garlic salt & pepper surved on pasta with cream sauce. They were delicious! ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿค—
  9. Is this Oysters? On a Hackberry slab after lots of weekend rain and cooler temps in Southeast Louisiana next to house porch walkway this morning.
  10. Welcome Mark! My husband & I are new to mushrooms also. He is also from W VA in the coal camps of McDowell County transplanted to Southeastern LA where we met while he was on his way to California. That was 44 years ago that he met this Cajun girl that ended his gypsy ways. Lol...You found friends plus a very awesome, knowledgeable, & helpful group that helps us all with learning. ๐Ÿค—
  11. Ok... I am doing one now! Thank you so much.
  12. Thank you much. We were hoping it was oysters been really wanting to try them.
