Thanks for your response! I enjoy being outdoors, especially this time of year. I've never been to Mystic Mountain in Catawissa, but I have heard of it. I mostly (for now, anyway) stick around the Poconos and Northampton County areas. There is so much to find if you know where to look. I would love to hear some more of what you find in nature, if you have the time!

I found this on my property a while back and cannot determine accurately what type this is. Could anybody lend some insight? It wasn't near any tree, dead or otherwise. I couldn't get down close enough to get a picture of the underside to see gills, etc, as I have really bad knees. but the first picture shows what I think would either be a cobwebby ring or a descending gill attachment to the stalk. I was initially thinking maybe cinnabar-red chanterelle, but I think typically the cap is wider, unless this is early stage. Any suggestions?

I just wanted to take a moment to say hi and introduce myself. My name is Kurt and I am from Pennsylvania. I have been a long time admirer of all things mushrooms and have, within the past few years, been studying a lot about the science behind mushrooms. I am by far not a pro at identifying many types, just some local edibles. I hope to gain so much from being here and I welcome any insight and knowledge anyone has to offer!
