  1. Thanks John and Dave! The hericium looks pretty atypical for an H. coralloides, so I was worried it was possibly not even an hericium entirely. I'm going to eat it tonight then!
  2. I found this on the same tree as a lions mane, and I think this is some kind of Hericium, but I'm not positive. What do you guys think?
  3. Thanks for the tips Bradley!! Dave, I went back and it was actually a hemlock, you were right!
  4. I'll be back in those woods, so I'll double check to look up what type of tree it is! Thanks Dave, your comments are always so helpful!
  5. Thanks Bradley! It grew on some kind of deciduous tree, but I could tell what type of tree it was. Oh that is too bad that it's not good to be used a medicine anymore, as this is the first Reishi I've found, and I was hoping to be able to make a tea out of it.
  6. My friend found this at the bottom of a stump if dead wood. I've never seen hens this small, but it looks a lot like one. Is this possibly a baby hen?
  7. I found this around the boston area, and I think this is some kind of Ganoderma, but I'm not sure what species it could be. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Also, there is a white dust on the underside. Does anyone think it could be mold?
  8. Thanks Dave! I had never found one before so this is exciting. Yeah this was the only mushroom that wasn't dried out. We also found a huge chicken of the woods, but unfortunately, it was too dry to keep.
  9. Hi all, A friend found this today in the woods around the boston area. We think it's a beefsteak polypore, but it looks more dark red and brown than the pictures on the internet. I'm not sure what else it could be though. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
