Agaricus Newbie

Agaricus Newbie (1/5)

  1. These are generally an inch or two in diameter and up to three inches high. Underside bruises purply-black.
  2. Found these on Deadwood. I brushed my finger along the bottom and a puff of brown spores blew off. (These pics should be rotated to the right)
  3. Thanks Dave, you are indeed a maestro of mycology!
  4. First off, as a novice forager i'd like to give a big thanks to the moderators of this site! I found both of these on dead wood in the Chicago area. The first specimen had no proper cap, was 2-4" lengthwise, had no stem and the maze-like pores were on top. There were quite a few specimens. The second specimen was about 2" in diameter, spore print was similar to gill color (perhaps a little darker), short curved stem. Thanks!
  5. Wow, that third one is beautiful! I found these Reishi and Chaga in the forested area right in back of our vacation rental in Michigan. The large Reishi measured 17" across. The Chaga was on a birch right outside the bathroom window. In fact, that's where I spotted from.
  6. Greetings, I'm new to this site and and farely new to mushroom foraging (but definitely hooked!). I found these in late October on the north side of an old Honey Locust in Chicago. I've found Reishi in the past up in Michigan but always on dead hemlock. There were six to seven specimens ranging from 3 - 6 inches across on the north side of the tree. Flesh was light brown. Appreciate any help in identifying!
