  1. The weather has been favorable, can't wait to check out my NY/CT spots tomorrow. Does anyone know what subtype of B. edulis those are? They smell and taste just like typical kings to me. Their shape is different from usual and they don't stand a chance to grow full size against bugs and myself. Fall kings around here look the same but bigger in size and some look closer to what I saw in other regions, more bulbous. So far around my house in CT I found B. variipes, and see a lot of other mushrooms popping up around the house. Not sure if chanterelles are out yet, will check my spot this weekend. Happy hunting!
  2. Hi All! Have not been posting much on this site, but thought it would be nice to start contributing. Just wanted to share that NY/PA border spots produce summer boletus edulis in good quantities. Look under Norway Spruce. I only looked for a few minutes in one of my spots and managed to find a number of young specimen, all infested but firm. Also found a few other interesting mushrooms. Happy hunting!
