Once all the bark peels away leaving bare wood exposed, no more oyster mushroom grow.

It might be Hypsizigus ulmaris. It can grown as singles on dead wood but still in a loose group like in your picture.

Also Hypsizigus does not have decurrent gills, same as yours.

Is the tree a Box Elder (Manitoba Maple)? That would fit for H. ulmaris

A spore print would be useful and a spore microscopy even better.

Oyster-like mushroom ID request

https://wildmushroomhunting.org/index.php?/topic/16552-oyster-like-mushroom-id-request/&do=findComment&comment=264512

It's hard to tell with theses photos; the gills' attachment to the stems doesn't look decurrent enough. But the mushrooms off the tree look too rotten to tell. The fishy smell is rotting flesh. The mushrooms on the tree in the top photo seem to have rather dark caps and are not as clustered as typical Oyster mushrooms.

Oyster-like mushroom ID request

https://wildmushroomhunting.org/index.php?/topic/16552-oyster-like-mushroom-id-request/&do=findComment&comment=264511

Oyster like mushrooms with white gills, fishy smell - found in north central Ohio today on a dead tree

Curious if y'all can narrow the ID for this Pluteus

https://wildmushroomhunting.org/index.php?/topic/16523-curious-if-yall-can-narrow-the-id-for-this-pluteus/&do=findComment&comment=264486

Looks ugly

Is this an oyster mushroom

https://wildmushroomhunting.org/index.php?/topic/16530-is-this-an-oyster-mushroom/&do=findComment&comment=264485

Oyster mushrooms in south Louisiana typically will be found growing on the west side on down willow trees.

Can anyone please give me a SOLID reliable identification?!

https://wildmushroomhunting.org/index.php?/topic/16528-can-anyone-please-give-me-a-solid-reliable-identification/&do=findComment&comment=264484

Facts and I do most certainly know that and when I said solid I meant as solid as it can get with out the micro that is.

Is this an oyster mushroom

https://wildmushroomhunting.org/index.php?/topic/16530-is-this-an-oyster-mushroom/&do=findComment&comment=264481

Looks like Oyster mushroom.

Except normal they grow on dead wood.

Could there be decaying wood underground?

Knowing the habitat (in grass, near dung, on dung, etc.) would likely be essential to determine the species. Also, a solid indentification would require microscopic identification.

Kuo's page has descriptions for a handful of more common ones: https://www.mushroomexpert.com/panaeolus.html

Can anyone please give me a SOLID reliable identification?!

https://wildmushroomhunting.org/index.php?/topic/16528-can-anyone-please-give-me-a-solid-reliable-identification/&do=findComment&comment=264475

Found in wet grass middle TN

https://wildmushroomhunting.org/index.php?/topic/16475-found-in-wet-grass-middle-tn/&do=findComment&comment=264471

Perfect example of an LBM.

NEED HELP IDENTIFYING THESE!!!

https://wildmushroomhunting.org/index.php?/topic/16520-need-help-identifying-these/&do=findComment&comment=264470

Did it grow from wood underground?

I like how it combines curiosity, learning, and a hands-on connection with nature instead of just theory. Exploring edible plants, understanding seasonal availability, and researching safety shows real dedication. Projects like this also help people appreciate local ecosystems and sustainable living.
