  1. Thank you for sharing this post Dave. This is hopeful. Last year I was picking morels in Northern Ontario on June 18th. And made a decision to go up next weekend. Hopefully I was accurate with my decision. The pictures bellow are from last year. They seemed great at picking, did keep them outside overnight, and by the time I brought them home, lots of them were buggy. Only noticed the worms after cutting them in half. I definitely could of picked them a bit sooner. So hopefully next weekend will be perfect. I will be sure to post my findings when I get back.
  2. They have been coming up in Sudbury area since end of May . Are you Getting any rain now? Perhaps they will still come up. Last year, they were going strong in North Bay Area Right into Mid June. Maybe still a bit early, and there is hope that they will come up yet. Thoughts?
  3. Is anyone here from North Bay or Sudbury Ontario area? When can I expect morel season up there? South Western Ontario ( London, Toronto, Bertie) is going strong right now. Interested in going up there for morels. Just need to narrow down the timing. Any suggestions ?
  4. Thank you @rob My first time finding Jacks.
  5. Thank you @brendan I think you might be right. Their size and colour threw me off. And they don’t glow in the dark.
  6. The shape is similar to an oyster. Decurrent gills. Orange body, and appears to have orange spore print. Grew in a huge cluster at the base of a tree. Size of the extended adult hand. Images shown are on a dinner plate.
  7. Great harvest Dave! Still looking for great spots in my area. Morels are just staring in south western Ontario.
  8. Thanks GJC! I think this warm weather may bring them earlier. My spring flowers are all in bloom in my garden and trees are ready to show some leafs. My goal is to find a big mother load this year! Woohoo!
  9. Very nice Dave! I hope this means I’ll be finding them in Ontario soon!
  10. Hello! Question for you, Ontario Shroomers! Are you finding any morels yet? Last year I found them in mid-May. This year has been an interesting winter and spring and all of a sudden this warm weather upon us. Wonder if it will bring along early morels?
  11. So far, from my research, seems to be: Suillus tomentosus What do you all think? anyone have experience with this mushroom? How do you like it? How did you prepare it? Have anyone dehydrated it?
  12. Found these yellow boletes in evergreen, mostly pine habitat near a lake. NE Wyoming. Yellow cap and stem, bruising slightly blue. Pores darker, stem is dotted. Cap apears crackled with darker crust almost. Mild taste. Flying home to Ontario in the mornig and wondering if worth taking with.
