  1. Cool, dry up a piece and send it to a lab, Apparently it's a rather rare find.
  2. Yup those are Jack o Lanterns. And The difference between Jack O Lantern, False Chanterelles and Real Chanterelles are with the gills. Chanterelles have false gills, which are more ridges, the other two have real, true, gills. http://www.mushroom-appreciation.com/chanterelle-mushrooms.html This link should help you out a little more. Also very nice picture too!
  3. I hear these guys are pretty rare to find, at least what I have read up on. It's rather neat looking. http://www.morelmushroomhunting.com/boletus_auriflammeus.htm This may help a little more
  4. I believe it was on a maple. Also, it wasn't found in a bunch, just by itself.
  5. Found this guy on a fallen old log, the log was rotten pretty bad, but I'm guessing it was a Maple. The first picture here is the topside, the second one is the underside. It has this strange little nub things, they are like worms but they are part of the mushroom. Have absolutely no clue what it could be It's also a very rough and though, I was going to bring it home to use as a hammer lol
  6. Boletus Auriflammeus is what I could come up with here.
  7. We just got some monster rain today, I will go back to the area tomorrow and try to find more to more accurately describe it.
  8. Thanks guys. There were a few of these guys around after I looked around more. Yea it stained blue very quickly, within a second or so of cutting
  9. Need some assistance with this mushroom id, I believe it to be Neoboletus Luridiformis but not 100% sure. I was walking around my park and accidentally kicked this guy. A little more information; Was found near very many oak trees, but wasn't growing on the tree, just near it, The soil was also rather clay like there, as it is almost wetlands, as the park is basically a small inlet of Lake Ontario. And yes stains blue as shown in the picture, thanks for your help guys!
  10. Hello, My names is Ryan, I'm from Western New York, right on the Lake Ontario shoreline. I love the outdoors a lot, and there is a ton mushrooms growing around here, Though I know some about mushrooms, i'd really like to expand my knowledge quiet a bit!
