eat-bolete
Now that morel season is over, what edibles are possible to find between now and July? Wine caps? Oysters? Puffballs maybe? Anything else?
Dave W
Late May through early June is typically a down time for fungi around here. But a few edibles are found during this time... Oysters, Chicken Mushroom (the white-pored L. cincinnatus), King Stropharia (young unopened caps are good), Polyoprus umbellatus (rare), Pluteus species (mediocre IMO), Dryad's Saddle, and the occasional morel from a late spot (cool high elevation area). Usually (weather dependent) I start looking for the mycorrhizal species around the third week of June... chanterelles, boletes. Last year, the very warm May followed by a wet June got things going earlier than usual. But some years these types don't appear until the end of June. CWlake
I agree, Dave here in the Midwest there is usually about 3-4 week lull in the action after the morels are gone. Kind of stinks waiting.
John Smalldridge
Eastern N.C. Has more chanterelles popping than I can pick right now!

bobby b
Here in western PA I started finding bi-colors on June 18th last year. Only found them in one spot but with all the rain we had they were really poppin. The following week started a big flush of black trumpets. They were in many spots. Still have some. I'm sure there's surprises to come.
Scott C
My buddy south of me here in Ohio found 4 bi color boletes last weekend, my oak, beech hickory woods are barren except for ginseng right now. Lovely to see after a few mile walk with a 5 week old mangled/broken toe, good luck all. Rain rain and more rain...please!
